Lounge by the creek, find a shady spot to read, say hello to the goats, cows, chickens or barn cats, or simply have an off-the-beaten-path refuge for your visit to The Dalles.

How It Started...
Our cozy 8 Mile Farm started small and humble. We purchased the farm in 2018 and for 18 months, we lived here in a tiny 1974 Roadrunner camp trailer. Then we graduated to the old farm house, lacking heat, a kitchen or a shower. Not sure if it was an upgrade, but Brad could at least stand up straight.

In 2020, we began breaking ground for the new 8 Mile Farm house! We ran into some hiccups, and sometimes we doubted our dream. But while we were building, a garden got planted, cows joined the farm, and life grew richer and more vibrant.

The dream was always to host travelers here. With full-time jobs in The Dalles and more livestock joining us each season, we decided to start small. Starting in 2023, we hosted a few guest rooms on a vacation rental site. Our awesome guests left awesome reviews, and after a year we felt ready to become a full-on Bed & Breakfast.

Rotational goat grazing, hens running wild, wildflowers growing like weeds, weeds replaced with cover crops and companion planting... Now that we're finding our groove, we're identifying strategic practices we can incorporate to make 8 Mile Farm a regenerative, fertile, and diverse farm ecosystem.

The Location
Off the beaten path, close to town
We are just 13 minutes from downtown The Dalles, making it a quick drive to dinner
but far enough out for amazing star gazing and deeply quiet nights.
Vineyards, History, and Hiking -- Oh My!
We are just 30 minutes from numerous wineries - AniChe, Maryhill, Syncline to name a few, as well as 30 minutes from all that Hood River has to offer. Discover bikeable access to Mt. Hood National Forest just 11 miles down our scenic road.
An Affirming Space
We are vocal allies with the LGBTQ+ community in the Columbia Gorge. People of all queer identities are welcome at 8 Mile Farm.
